![]() June 09 The first speaker was our own Bob Raikes. Raikes started by explaining to delegates how the display world is completely dominated by LCD because of the huge range of sizes that can be made and because of the scale of the markets that can be addressed, from cell phones to public displays. Plasma is not having a successful time against LCD in digital signage and both LG and Samsung SDI, two of the top three PDP panel makers, are not developing their production capacity with major investments - unlike Panasonic, whose major new investment in Amagasaki in Japan is just coming on stream. Raikes said that Meko’s forecast for Europe is less aggressive than that of its partners DisplaySearch for the global industry. However, even modest growth would be good as the industry has been basically pretty flat for the last couple of years. . . ![]() ![]() May 09 : The Screen Holds 'Digital Out Of Home - Life Of A Campaign' Event at Hospital Club : Read The James Van Etten Review : Last Friday I attended The Screen Forum at The Hospital Club, London. With a variety of media sales options available - the question for digital signage network owners is how best to align their media sales efforts to engage with potential advertisers. To-date the market has been dominated by in-house teams. Recently however these teams have been joining together to form ‘alliances’, aggregating their networks, audiences and sales contacts. Meanwhile independent trading mechanisms have starting appearing on the internet, and new 3rd party specialist agencies have sprung up. The Screen Forum is holding an informal breakfast meeting on Wednesday 4th March to assess these different trends and the options available to network owners. The attendees will hear brief presentations and case studies from companies on both the sales and the booking sides.
